I don't know if there exists a guage for the Lower Caragh in Kerry. I don't see one on the riverspy page anyway.
If there isn't any, I might be able to put one on the lakeshore nearby at a property belonging to my family. The lake level would be a good indicator of how high the water in the Lower Caragh is, I think.
So, anybody got any ideas how I'd go about this?
Thanks
Guage for Lower Caragh?
Re: Guage for Lower Caragh?
Nice idea.
i dunno how often the lower caragh is paddled though. Think phoenix do beginner trips there sometimes.
the expert in this field is Daithi Power who created the flesk gauge and riverspy. If its still there, there was a "how to build a gauge" link on the site.
Personally, I'd find level info for the upper caragh of more use, as you could extrapolate to levels in the black valley, gaddagh and others

Re: Guage for Lower Caragh?
That is true. It would be of limited usefulness to others as the river isn't kayaked too much. That said, we've got the property there, so I'll do it if I can. I might try and get one on the Upper Caragh too if I can get chatting to a landowner up there.
