Boluisce Fish Counter

Post by Seanie » Tue Oct 18, 2011 1:55 am

I hear some people paddled the river over the weekend.
Is it retentive? Will it cause issues?
Is there any photos of it?

Hey, yes we paddled it.

On the mediumish level we had, the feature was pretty easy to punch, beginner ww paddlers to advanced ww boaters had no problem once a bit of speed going through was obtained. Safety is easily provided on one or both banks, perphaps our main concern was somebody capsizing going through it and doing the final rapid poll gorm on their head (not nice).

IMO. The feature needs safety and inspection everytime it is run. (we choose the river right bank to get out at the spideal bridge). Tree logs etc.. could easily be recirculated in this feature for days on end. I did not observe but heard that Ali Donald dropped into the feature sideways to see if he could escape the tow back. He could not. I'm not surprised as there is quite a bit of tow back and the feature is very narrow.

On the medium level we had and below Poll Gorm is still runnable with however, more consequence. Remains to be seen what will happen on higher flows though.

Was actually easier for someone on river right to pull out Ali's boat from the bank rather than pulling him out with a rope ... so definitely be good to have someone standing there, just in case anyone did end up in there sideways.

Hi guys,

I saw photos of the fish counter that were taken at Galway fest a few weeks ago. Just wondering - is it good for playboating? Looks retentive, but is it deep enough to loop?

Cheers. Pity its shallow. Would be great to have a new dam release play feature.
