2015 Freestyle World Championships Team Trials - Curragower

Freestyle kayaking is a white water discipline where the participants perform a range of acrobatic tricks and maneuvers on a standing feature such as a wave or hole. The discipline is enjoyed by many as a recreational sport and at the top level by those participating in competitions both nationally and internationally. The sport has rapidly developed in recent years and continues to evolve with new, more dynamic moves being performed.

2015 Freestyle World Championships Team Trials - Curragower

The 2015 Freestyle World Championships takes place at Garberator wave on the Ottawa River, Canada in August of next year. Trials to select the team to represent Ireland will be held on Curragower wave in Limerick City over the weekend of the 22nd & 23rd of November. This event will also make up one part of the 2014 National Championships.

Team trials will take the format of two competitions, one on each day. Each competition will consist of ICF prelim round format for an unattainable feature with three 45 second rides with the two best rides giving each competitor their combined score. Both competitions will be weighted equally with 100 points for 1st, 99 for 2nd, 98 for 3rd etc.

The top placed paddlers in each category will earn the right to compete at the 2015 World Championships. The Following are the places available in each category to compete in Canada next year

K1 Men 5 places
K1 Women 3 places
K1 Junior Men 3 places
K1 Junior Women 3 places
C1 Mix 3 places

Registration is now open here and all competitors must register before Thursday 23rd of October.

Entry fee is €20 which covers both events.

Check in on Saturday the 22nd of November will open at 9.00am with first heat taking place at 10.30am.
