Guaranteed party. Sign up and queries at [email protected], more details on entry and venues to be released soon.
Event aims to promote two things. Participation first while also promoting a more competitive side to Irish whitewater. This is not an elitist competition and anybody of Level 3 standard is eligible to compete. And yes you will get a generic kayaking t-shirt.

Re: GalwayFest-2012
Freestyle/WW scores will be linked to crown an overall champion and to give many others an insight on how their own paddling is coming on. We are expecting miniture rivalries to spark up in many clubs across the country who are eager to compete. Oh and the party will be one to remember! All scores will be documented and put online.
Fun Freestyle Rodeo on Saturday. Meeting at the event location at 11.30am. Notice will be given a day before on whether we are heading for the first choice Tuam or back up location Clifden. This will be a fun rodeo format, we want to see some epic paddle spins and air guitars!
Party in Galway city Saturday night. Details on location soon.
Whitewater is on the Boluisce. Meeting in spiddeal at 9.30am. There will first be a time trial race from the footbridge to poll gorm. 12 fastest competitors go into the boatercross finale. Two semi finals and a grand final. Standard river runners or creekboats will be allowed, no long boats. All competitors will need to be Level 3 standard to take part in this event. Prizegiving afterwards in 'An Tobar' in Spiddeal town which is also open during event to keep people warm with some beverages and finger food.
Event entry cost to be confirmed, but it wont be expensive. We are looking at ways to make it as cheap as possible and we would like to organise event t-shirts. The way to make this happen folks is to encourage lots of people in your club to come to this event. More people=cheaper overall.
We need the notice that we have the numbers to do some extra things for the event, that is why the closing date for entry will be Sunday the 8th of January. Thats the time where we will plow onwards or downsize the event so make sure you let us know you want to be part of this weekend before then!
Email [email protected] to sign up and for answers to any queries.
Thanks Barry & Andrew

another quick write up here
Re: GalwayFest 2012 - January 21st- 22nd
Boatercrosses and events of this nature are getting better and better. The thing that really struck home with me is the amount of planing and level of professionalism these days. The lads did up a risk assessment and safety plan for the day, circulated it to interested parties beforehand and then published it after input. This makes it easier for the next even and makes boatercross even more legit.
Well done to everyone involved.
Well done to everyone involved.
Re: GalwayFest 2012 - January 21st- 22nd
Its been some Season! T-wave Rodeo, Glens race, Flesk race, Crana weekend, Kerry for New Years, GalwayFest, Sluice event this weekend, Wacko to come, Varsities for some. Packed calendar.
*I would like to say a special thank you to the guys in Canoeing Ireland who at very little notice were incredibly supportive of this event. They deserve a great deal of praise.*
Good reasons to be optimistic for Irish paddling.
Heres a nice edit of the weekend by Shane Little!
