GLENDALE http://www.marinersfanproshop.com/authe ... nez-jersey , Ariz. (AP) — ite Sox rotation last season after returning from shoulder surgery, the left-hander had an impressive stretch of starts before fading badly down the stretch. All that really mattered for Rodon and the White Sox was that he made it through the rest of the season healthy, and got to spring training that way.“It felt like a normal year, but actually didn’t really feel like a normal year because a normal year for me was going through an injury,” Rodon said Friday. “I had a good offseason, got to be healthy, and show I’m healthy and have a healthy spring, so I’m excited.”Rodon missed the beginning of the last two seasons because of injury. He was coming back from arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder when he made his 2018 debut in June. He made five so-so starts that month. Then came those impressive nine starts in July and August, when he was 5-0 with a 1.84 ERA, a huge boost for a rebuilding White Sox team that lost 100 games last season. He was the first White Sox pitcher since at least 1908 to make nine consecutive quality starts when allowing ?ve hits or less. But Rodon was 0-5 with a 9.22 ERA in six September starts http://www.marinersfanproshop.com/authe ... nez-jersey , and finished the season by allowing 14 earned runs over 3 1/3 innings in his last two appearances.Instead of blaming the bad finish on fatigue at the end of the season after the comeback from surgery, Rodon insisted Friday that he was just bad in those games and got his rear kicked — using much stronger terms than that.“He’s just being accountable, being responsible to everything,” manager Rick Renteira said. “We do look at coming back after being off, you know, pushing. So we’ll say it might have had a little fatigue factor to it at the end. But I’m glad he’s looking at (as) even if you’re fatigued, in his mind, he’s thinking, ‘I can find ways of still getting it done.'”The 26-year-old Rodon has 473 strikeouts through his first 86 career games, the most in White Sox history in such a stretch. That includes seven games with at least 10 strikeouts. He ranks fifth among AL left-handers since his big league debut in 2015 with 8.61 strikeouts per nine innings.Rodon missed the first three months of the 2017 season because of left biceps and shoulder inflammation. He had shoulder surgery that September Nelson Cruz Jersey , and the rehab from that pushed back the start of his 2018 season.“He’s actually really, really happy to be coming into camp feeling good and happy,” Renteria said. “You can see that he’s determined to try to have as consistent a season as he possibly can. … With health on his side, and the right mindset, he’s got a chance to do some good things for us this coming season.” Rockies news and links for February 11, 2019"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Scaling the RocksPebble ReportRockpileRockies Game ThreadsRockies Fan ExperienceRockpileNolan Arenado’s future impactNew,77commentsRockies news and links for February 11, 2019MSTShareTweetShareShareNolan Arenado’s future impactColorado Rockies Quick Hits: Arenado, Dunn, Story | Rox PileThe Rockies are certainly hoping that they can work out a deal with Nolan Arenado Carlos Ruiz Jersey , and that would have a big impact on a number of things. Bryce Harper and Manny Machado are still on the market, and it will relate to Arenado’s deal without a doubt. If he does sign with the Rockies, then it will affect next year’s market. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com contends that if Arenado signs an extension, 2020’s free agents might seek the same. In other Rockies news, it looks like Mike Dunn will be ready to go on Opening Day. He’s worked hard in the offseason and is looking good. Speaking of looking good, Trevor Story made MLB Network’s list of top shortstops, landing a respectable number three after Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez.Rockies Insider: What are the chances Carlos Gonzalez re-signs with Colorado? | Denver Post ($)Carlos Gonzalez, long-time Rockies player, remains a free agent for the 2019 season. Many are curious to see if there will be a repeat of last year where CarGo comes back to Denver at the last minute. It might be fun to see him in purple again, but there are those who question the wisdom of spending that kind of money when there are plenty of outfielders available for the Rockies. They also already have their veteran bat with the minor league deal with Mark Reynolds. It’s not terribly likely that the Rockies will bring CarGo back http://www.marinersfanproshop.com/authe ... nez-jersey , but only time will tell.Rockies’ spring training roster: Big questions at second, outfield, bullpen | Denver Post ($)The 2019 season is a big opportunity for the Rockies to go for their first NL West title. According to Vegas, they’re kind of long shots. ESPN.com claims that they are the least likely 2018 postseason team to return to make it to the playoffs again in 2019. A big part of these predictions are the very quiet offseason. Many are not optimistic that those who struggled last year can rebound to have a better year. Ian Desmond did not work at first base, DJ LeMahieu is gone at second, and Nolan Arenado slumped toward the end of last season. These spots will need to see improvement if the Rockies hope for another playoff appearance. The good news is that Trevor Story and Kyle Freeland bring a lot of talent and consistency to the equation, so let’s hope they can continue that trend in the new season. The rest of the starting rotation, as well as the relievers have to step up and help out if the Rockies stand a chance at a title in 2019.
