Woops I forgot I had set up a Calendar for events a while back, and some people are still adding to it.

Hi all!

I have created a Google calendar for Irish kayaking events and I have added you all to the list of people that can add/edit events and invite others to add/edit events. The idea is that we all add events that would be of interest to Irish kayakers.

I know organisations like the ICU and IFS have calendars. I don't see this as a competing calendar, I would think that this calendar would be used mainly on club websites to give them an overall view of what's happening in Irish kayaking, and not contain details like training or session times etc..

The advantages of using Google Calendar:
- Google calendars can be easily embedded into another sites. (eg. http://nuigkc.com/calendar/ )
- Lots of people can add events to a Google calendar. In other words all of us control the calendar.
- Information that is on the calendar is easily used and very accessible, multiple formats, email and SMS reminders, etc. etc.

I wouldn't be in favour of adding absolutely every event that's happening (as an example club meetings or club river trips) to this calendar, so as to make sure it doest get clogged up, just stuff that you would like the Irish kayaking community to know about.
