Galway / Wolfe Tone bridge

As per the text below, looks like the City Council will be doing some work on Wolfe Tone Bridge over the next couple of weeks. So anyone thinking of hitting the lower during the period of the work, a recce of the status under the bridge beforehand would be highly recommended!
They also provided some more detail in addition to the text below:
Access to the underside of the arches will be by a specialist machine from the UK. This machine will operate from the top side of the bridge. Therefore only one arch at a time will be affected at any given time.
We do not antcipate any weekend work at the moment. But that may change depending on how the works pan out.
Even if not planning to hit the lower over next weeks probably a good thing to know anyway, as no doubt will be chaos from traffic point of view ...

Refurbishment works to Wolfe Tone Bridge
Essential refurbishment works to the Wolfe Tone Bridge will commence on Wednesday next, 6th October 2010. The project will last for approximately two weeks.
Traffic crossing the bridge will be restricted to one lane only for approximately 6 hours per day. The work will be carried out to coincide with low tide. Therefore, the timing of works will vary.
A 'Stop / Go' system will be put in place while works are ongoing. Unfortunately, this will lead to delays. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route.
Galway City Council wishes to thank the public for their cooperation and patience while this essential work is being carried out.
