Its been updated with new map layers and its much quicker! The new layers include a much more detailed and cleaner looking discovery series type layer, 'wind report' layer and 'street view' layer. Street view isn't exactly Google Street View, it just means detailed maps of urban areas.

However there is a down side, they have removed the detailed OSI maps that have contour lines. I wont miss this too much as in my experience these were hugely inaccurate anyway (sometimes contour lines were placed where it was almost flat and other times there were none where there was a large drop).

In addition to displaying maps, the OSI map viewer provides high quality aerial photography for the entire Republic of Ireland, from two periods 2005 and 2000. I use this website all the time, mainly for scouting new rivers. I used it recently to find group of waterfalls in Connemara.

I'd encourage you all to give a once over to every stream or drainage ditch in your area, who knows you might just find a hidden gem.
