If slalom was always like this it would be so much more fun! They are still hitting the gates too. Crazy skills. :D

More Videos!

Post by Seanie » Tue Aug 03, 2010 3:36 pm

First day back to work after the Bank Holiday.... Lots of work was done! ;)

I'm always amazed with the production values and quality of the videos that are being put online, when you compare it to 2 or 3 years ago. Online HD and cheap HD cameras have also made the footage that bit easier to look at.

Cherry Bomb Gorge
by Evan Garcia
Evan also put up some photos of his trip. What a great river.

Northern Norway 2010
by Tuomas Vaarala
"A small group of Finnish kayakers exploring the rivers in the northernmost Norway. "

The next two videos are park and huck, purely about running waterfalls. I could watch this sort of thing all day. I love seeing multiple people running the same droop from different angles, it makes me feel like I'm learn something from the video.

Ben Brown - Nevis Rapids [Vid]

Post by Seanie » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:57 am

Last month we gave him the option of doing any mission he wanted in NZ.. Red Bull NZ would deploy a full production team, with helicopters, mini cams, and whole lot of energy drink! We were all fizzing at getting down to river level to see it first hand!

We spent a bit of time getting to know Ben before he put his life on the line in the name of adrenalin and stratigically paddled the massive death pits of the Grade 5 rapids.. NEVIS BLUFF!

Twelve Productions: This is who WE are - Ciarán Heurteau

Post by Seanie » Fri Sep 03, 2010 11:32 am

I came upon this video in the Kayak Session Weekly Best of the Web, its an email sent out once a week with the best videos and blog post from the previous week. Its well worth subscribing to.

Its a video by Ciarán Heurteau, a member of the Irish Slalom team.

Heres his blog and a story about how he dislocated his shoulder in New Zealand:

http://www.nissan.co.jp/X-TRAIL/
Click the kayaker, bottom right of the screen.
It's a big budget production of Oregon paddling with Steve Fisher and Rush Sturges.
A couple of things jumped out at me - one, how quickly I've gotten used to Hi def movies. It's so noticeable here that it's only SD, and to its considerable detriment.
Two, for all the money that Nissan apparently threw at this production, apart from the superfluous shots of the jeep and helicopter, and shots from the helicopter, it's no better than any good quality production I've seen recently, from the likes of Evan Garcia.
Kayakers are getting pretty good at putting together these movies.
