Kayaking book wishlist

Post by J.K. » Sun May 09, 2010 4:01 pm

Hey folks,
My club is putting together a bit of a kayaking library, so I'm looking for suggestions on books to acquire for it. Things like Will Nealy's Kayak, Franco's WWSR book, Dave Manby's Many Rivers To Run.
They can be lifestyle ones, or instructional ones, doesn't matter.
Any info appreciated.

Whitewater Kayaking: The Ultimate Guide
Ken Whiting & Kevin Varette.
Its a great one to give beginner/intermediate paddler. It doesn't go into the detail, but give a great outline.

Olli Grau's book "White Water Kayaking" is very good, from beginner to intermediate/expert. Should be available from amazon.

'Hell or High Water: Surviving Tibet's Tsangpo River' is a great read. Something like the kayaking equivalent of Jon Krakauer's 'Into thin Air':

I've just finished "Tall Stories - Andy Jackson", a biography of one of the real boating legends of the past decade. It's a super book and not just because it's full of great photos. The wonderful narrative by Ron Cameron is interspersed with old magazine articles, interviews and stories from Jackson's life both on and off the water. Well worth checking out. ;)
