Hidden gem in Carlow

Little known river in Carlow just outside of Tullow. Grade 2 - 3+ pushing 4 in very high water at the gorge. Lots of features on it - holes - waves - gorge - rock gardens with micro eddies. Great river to run before progressing onto Annamoe etc.
Runs down into Aghade that has great waves in high water at the top and falls down though some great rapids. About another mile below is powers wave and in high water can be a great spot - another unknown gem a 4 - 5 foot glassy standing wave. Its not a huge river but it is a great progression especially for aspiring level 3s and in big water it could make a great spot for boater X
We are just cleaning out all debris / strainers and clearing a path beside the gorge so its pretty safe and accessible
Going to stick a full detailled post up on irishwhitewater soon but if you wanna know more then post it or call or text 0851461782 - Chris
The whole run going full speed would take about an hour but if you stop to play through the features you could easily eat up 2 - 3 hours.
No issues with land owners at the put in you can access both sides of the bridge however during summer when crops are growing the farmers prefers us to get on below the bridge. Th groge section can be accessed wia a lane nearby again with no issue from landowners. When the Dereen joins with the Slaney it falls down into Aghade which you can run again and again as the farmer allows us access through his farm yard - Ex paddler - Only issue is he has two dogs and one is getting a bit old and nasty but just keep walking.
If anyone ever wants a lead down let us know and Im sure one of us would be happy to run down with you. Alternatively there is no major issues so as long as you have reasonable experience you will be grand
Damo just spent last three hours with some other members of tullow kayak club cutting all the trees and makin a path all along the gorge section of the dereen its really accessible now ...id also like to put my number out there for anyone wanting any info or running partners for this river give me damo a shout and well set it up ,0879615323
