Slalom Race Sat Aug 15th

Post by paddymcc » Wed Aug 05, 2009 11:55 am

Hea Guys,
I’m running a Slalom event Saturday Aug 15th on the Barrow just up river from Graiguenamanagh on the Clashganny stretch it will be running down 200m+ grade 2 section of rapids.
All are welcome to attend the event we will hopefully have alot of boats for use on the day so if you don’t have a slalom boat but want to give it a try no worries just pop along and you can use one on the day.
This event is part of a new slalom calendar which is being put together and after the success of the slalom in the varsities im hoping that we can keep the feeling going and get a good turn out. Something abit different for a summers day paddling in Ireland.
Entries will be taken from 10am -11am followed by a practice hour and then the competition starting at 12pm.

For more details and to pre-register drop an email too: [email protected]

River info can be seen here..... http://www.irishwhitewater.com/river_gu ... php?id=390

Hea Guys just to Bump this up.

Also anyone traveling to the event if you could avoid driving through the town of Borris at all costs as their is a fair on and traffic will be epic. Here is a link to google maps to show a different route ,,,

We have the Use also of a number of plastic slalom boats perfect for finding your feet in and getting used to it. These are available for all to use but bring ur own boat anyway just to get down the river to the site.

We are lucky to have this event supported by I-CANOE.COM who are Giving us some prizes for the day.

It would be great to see some of the Freestyle crowd try their hand at slalom and this is the only place id say their will be any water on Saturday.

Hope to see you their.

Paddy
