Slalom Gates on Castleconnell

Post by KevEgan » Sun Jan 18, 2009 9:23 pm

Hey
There are 2 ropes across the S-Bend rapid, on the Castleconnell section of the Shannon, holding up poles for slalom gates.

They should be high enough above the water not to interfere with anyone. Give me a shout at [email protected] if they cause any inconvenience.

Feel free to use them if you fancy testing out your skills!

Nice work Mr. Egan!

There are also gates back up on Boluisce (since last semester I think) if any folks out West didn't know.

There are. They were hung in very low water though, and need adjusting. The level was about 1.3ish over the weekend, and the gates were not suitably positioned. There are also more gates available to hang out there if anyone wants to/has time – get in touch with Annie or me.

We would leave home in the morning and could play all day, as long as we were back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us and no one minded!
