UL 2008 Intervarsities win national award

Post by Siobhan h » Fri Nov 14, 2008 1:33 pm

The 2008 Limerick kayak intervarsities won the event of the year award at the CUSAI awards yesterday.

Here's the blurb...

Yesterday in the Pavillion Bar, Trinity College Dublin, the Colleges and Universities Sports Assocation of Ireland (CUSAI) announced that the UL Kayak Club scooped the Intercollegiate Event of the Year Award in the multi-day category. The UL Kayak Intervarsities held in February 2008 with the support of Ulster Bank, hosted 17 colleges from across the country with approximately 400 people in attendance. It consisted of competitions in four disciplines; canoe polo, whitewater racing, long distance and freestyle over 3 days with evening social events organised also.

A huge congrats has to go to the organising committee: Kevin Egan, Lorraine Feeney, Eimear Nails, Mike Jones, Mike Sweeney and of course everybody else that contributed to the event.

Hopefully the 2009 UCD intervarsities will prove to be an even greater success

Well done, definitely a well-deserved award!

The only flaw in the 2008 varsities was that the DJ didn't play Journey, UCDCC take note

Congratulations guys.

Truly well deserved. I'd say it was the Bosco Brawl or the Cork Twin Towers that snatched it for them.

Those other boscos shouldn't have rained on my parade.

Congrats on the award, really sets the bar. Don't fancy having to follow that :)
