Phoenix Kayak Club Lee Race takes place next Sunday the 24th of November.

The race is open to all ICU Kayak/Canoe/Kanu Club members, including college clubs.

Course.
Long Start; Inniscarra Dam to Slip-way on Lee Fields. Distance approximately 13 km.
Short Start; Weir in Ballincollig Park to Slip-way on Lee Fields. Distance approximately 9 km.

Rough plan for the day is :
Club House open for Registration and arranging shuttles at 8.30.
Registration closes at 10.00.
Safety and race briefing at race start at 10.45. There will be a briefing at each start. All competitors must be ready with their boats and gear by this stage.
Competitors will get on the water immediately after briefing.
Race starts at 11.00.
Start Times.
Long Start;
Dancers, similar longer GP boats and shorter touring kayaks start at 11.00.
Wave-hoppers, sea kayaks, training K-boats and Canadians start at 11.05.
K1 boats start at 11.10.
K2 boats start at 11.15.
Short Start;
Regular river running boats; e.g. Burn, Everest, Mamba, Diesel, etc, start at 11.00.
Dancers, similar longer GP boats and shorter touring kayaks who do not wish to complete the full course start at 11.05.
Any other boats from the Long Start classes who do not wish to complete the full course start at 11.10.
We'd expected everyone to be off the water for 13.00.

Equipment list for paddlers includes, a boat (obviously), a paddle (again goes without saying, but you'd be surprised), Kayaking BA, Kayaking Helmet, whistle, mobile phone in dry pouch or dry case, and adequate paddling clothing for winter paddling in Ireland.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served at the Club House after the race, along with the Prize Giving Ceremony.

There will be a €5.00 fee to enter, this will go towards race costs. Any surplus will be donated to the Phoenix Kayak Club.

Hopefully we will have a good turnout, and this can become an annual event.
Spread the word.
