I have my 10 year old son and his friend out paddling. His friend is diabetic and will shortly be given an insulin pump. I was looking to hear from any other paddlers who are diabetic and also using an insulin pump. He is getting a waterproof one however his mother is more concerned about the possibilities of infection on the skin at the site of the cannula. He is only paddling in flat water at the moment for about an hour, however it is mainly on the canal. Kids being kids they prefer to be wet rather than dry! Any other advice would be appreciated.

Re: diabetic paddlers
Hi Elaine,
I'm pretty sure there are a few other paddlers in same boat as your sons friend (pardon the pun). One guy that pops to mind is a fairly well know whitewater/adventure paddler that has paddled all over the world (Africa, India, etc. ). I'll send an email and hopefully they'll either post here or get in touch.
