Tuam Gauge -- Vandalised

Post by MikeS » Sun Mar 21, 2010 12:25 pm

Hey,
The Tuam gauge was vandalised on Paddys Days.
Little B*****ds took the main control box and smashed it. Luckily i found parts of it lying around and salvaged some of it, hopefully it'll still be useable. The phone is gone so i'll have to replace with a new modem.

So if you plan on installing a gauge i think its pretty important to think of vandals. Take time to pick a location thats hidden and when mounting the equipment make sure its secure as possible, The only part of the tuam gauge that was touched was the part that could easily be removed with force, solar panel and sensor units are all bolted to rock and weren't touched , also the solar panel is in a mesh housing and so wasn't touched either.

I'll have to go back to the drawing board and come up with a more secure design.

laters

Ah Paddys day, just sums Ireland up.There are a lot of countries in the world that this sort of thing doesn't happen in, we've got a long way to go before we're one of them.
