to be fair, I've also seen a lot more Werners on the water then rough stuff so that would account for some of that.
I'm just mentioning them as a cheaper, but still good option.

Re: Paddles
All paddles can break, I've seen more sets of werner paddles break on a river then rough stuff. They are Irish made decent paddles at a reasonable enough price. The Twintex ones are grand, a bit heavier then other options but strong and relatively cheep. You get what you pay for, but most people don...

Re: College Clubs and Whitewater
Why should someone leading a club trip on the Boyne (or similar, I have no idea what ye boys out west run!) have to be of the same standard of rescue as someone who is good at doing scenarios on grade 3+? This I see as part of the problem. You don’t need to be able to do difficult scenarios in ord...

Interesting discussion. I like the idea of a college safety weekend, but as mentioned by Seanie there is the issue that by the time varsities gets around its already late in the year. So maybe the solution should be to do it in Augusts or September, before anyone starts back so that it can be most u...

Aer Lingus and busses with kayaks?
Need to get to London to journey further afield. Anyone know what Aer Lingus' policy towards kayaks is? They don't mention them specificly on their site, but do say that sports equipment can be a max of 15kg. Don't see any costs for that or what the excess costs (cause kayaks weigh more than 15kg). ...

gauges?
Are any of the river gauges working properly at the moment? Maybe a sticky on the forum to keep track of maintenance issues with them would be a good idea.

I'm not sure pointing to specific tragic institutes proves much, whos to say if she was wearing a Rocker/Shaggy/Protec that the result would have been any different.
That said, I wear a Rocker, for the coverage reasons outlined by Tiernan.
