Re: Looking for a club
There are several clubs in the Dublin area McGinty. Some may suit you more than others depending on location and the type of paddling you are into. All clubs welcome new members especially if you have some previous experience. Besht of luck! Here are links to a few I know. Wildwater Kayak Club - htt...

Pyrenees Buddies Race - 14/15 May 2011
The second running of the Pyrénées Buddies Race is set to take place on the 14th and 15th of May 2011. This event started out last year as a boater X event but was hampered by heavy snow on the day of the race. This year the organisers have added several other events such as a stand up paddle race a...

Bhoting wesht this weekend
Plenty of rain forecast for the south and west this weekend. Hoping to hit up some ditches out west on Saturday if anyone is around I may have a spot in the car. 087 7536394.

Wicklow Maps
I got a present of these 1:30,000 maps covering North Dublin/Wicklow recently. They are independently produced by a small Irish company, waterproof, and very handy for paddlers/walkers etc. The 1:30,000 scale is a nice addition to the OSI 1:50,000 series and there is lots of useful info marked in su...

Re: Kayaking book wishlist
I've just finished "Tall Stories - Andy Jackson", a biography of one of the real boating legends of the past decade. It's a super book and not just because it's full of great photos. The wonderful narrative by Ron Cameron is interspersed with old magazine articles, interviews and stories from Jackso...

Re: Rainfall Radar Upgrade
This is the best radar service I have come across. It is well worth the €4/mth fee as it covers the whole of the UK and Ireland and is more precise than the Met Eireann radar. It came in handy over the past few weeks as it was bang on for predicting snowfall. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?act...

Re: melt water
Medium levels today in Wicklow. Dargle and Annamoe were good to go. Still lots of snow up there and hopefully will keep levels up for a few more days!

Re: melt water
Nah I went for a walk with the boat around Wicklow this morning and it's still frozen solid. Hopefully will wait till the weekend before melting! There's a lot of snow up there.
