Re: Amazing photos
Thanks Seanie. That one turned out pretty well, using the old 'point-and-click-and-hope' method. A write up of that day's trip (on the Inchavore) is here, if anyone is interested.

Re: BCU Student Safety Weekend - have you ever gone?
It can be done by student clubs - students are not as useless as they look! This year UCD had a safety weekend in Wicklow. I can't speak for the other clubs but UCD has a load of well-qualified young types and enough oldies to fill a nursing home. It took a massive effort by a bunch of them, but eve...

Re: River Shoes with Laces ( Friend or Foe )
Well, the standard advice applies here: 'Never listen to anything Rob Coffey has to say...' Apart from that, it seems more likely that if your shoe gets snagged on something, then it's going to get pulled off your foot or the lace will break. Again, Rob Coffey has direct personal experience of this,...

Re: Where Did I Leave That Bridge?
Yep, apparently the guy got out of his jeep to have a look at the huge volume of water and while he was doing that, the jeep was washed away. Early Friday, there was water streaming down the road when you normally park and water lapping up on the metal of the bridge. We ran the river on Friday eveni...

Re: urband adventure
Myself and Donnacha Curley ran the Dodder in big water once a few years back just to tick that box. We put in at Old Bridge Road, Templeogue, and took out at the pedestrian bridge upstream from Donnybrook Bridge. As I recall we had to hotfoot it to the UCDCC AGM in Madigan's of Donnybrook to abstain...

Re: First paddling trip to Ireland?
Hi Kev, Irish boating is a lot like Scotland and Wales, really, so the same weather conditions apply - don't commit to coming here for a week's boating until as late as poossible so you can check the water levels. The two main areas to hit are Wicklow, just an hour south of Dublin, and Cork/Kerry, a...

Re: Irish Kayak Blogs/News
Aaah, that explains it. I was getting some traffic to my blog from your feedburner, but I had no idea whose feedburner it was, if you get me. Nice work. I've added your feedburner to my bloglines - never miss a thing again. I have an unfinished river guide contribution sitting around ion my harddriv...
