Re: Sweet Strutters, are they solid?
I always thought the Sweet Strutter were primarily a fashion thing that came from the freestyle scene (in the sense that head protection wasn't so crucial in freestyle). Unfortunately the trend crossed over to whitewater. I picked one of them up recently to have a look and was shocked at how pliable...

Kayak Sessions Corsica 2010 video
Kayak Sessions have just posted their Corsica 2010 video: About ten Irish paddlers in a crowd of about 500, but always making an impact. Corsica was class this year, and they were keen on more Irish coming out next year. Check out Mickey Barry's trucker 'tash...

Here's a helmet cam clip of the Toro Amarillo in Costa Rica in flood water. Looking at this feels like being in a video game:

Re: Wicklow road report from today (Saturday)
We got to the Shankill from the Tallaght side in the end. Good trip down that - I haven't been on it many, many years. Funnily, it wasn't massive. Lots of lumber in the river, but mostly good to go.

Re: Wicklow road report from today (Saturday)
From Kyle: I've heard the bridge at Lough dan has only 1ft clearance under the bridge, a lot of roads have 1/2ft of water on them & Lyhnams hotel is flooded. Sounds HUGE. Report is from Eoinor and he's just going hiking now instead of boatin'... From Young Tom on the scene: Sally Gap impassable with...

Re: Wheres best to stay and paddle in Ireland over new years?
On New Years night, everyone will be in the Ross Inn, Rossbeigh, about 2 km outside Glenbeigh itself. To get back to Killarney from there at some hour of the morning you are going to need a designated driver. I hope you have good rock-paper-scissors skills. I'd suggest checking the Clare Glens for w...

Re: Wheres best to stay and paddle in Ireland?
Hi Josh, Over New Years the best place to be is probably Kerry, specifically the village of Glenbeigh, if you are looking for a week-long party with added kayaking. It's a summer holiday kind of place, but every smelly studenty kayaker in the country usually debunks to there from about the Dec 27 fo...

Re: Dargle levels this morning (Saturday)
Hi Tomas, A 'nice medium level' on the Dargle is a judgment call but I would say 50 cm is 'cruisey' - enough water to cover all the annoying rocks, but not enough to scare you witless. Currently Ferg has set the 'miminum' graph line for 50 cm: http://www.irishwhitewater.com/gauge/rivers/dargl/dargl....
