Re: Flesk Gauge
Yes and no! The gauge is back in the water (thanks Dots & Cuan) and Daithi is waiting for a few readings at different levels now to calibrate it. It looks to be reading a bit low at the moment, but should be fixed up shortly.

Re: Inflatable Kayak(ing)
Hi Padraig, if you're looking for clubs, UCC and CIT both have very active clubs, tho not much happening during summer. Phoenix club on the Lee Fields run beginner courses over summer (phoenixkayakclub.com) as do Munster Dive and Canoe (mdac.ie) Would second Seanie's thoughts about getting a few bas...

Re: Clare Glens Notice
I was slightly concerned when I read this first (cos I normally portage constriction due to the number of boats I've seen written off in there) To me, this: Set safety by by taking out 50m above constriction portaging around by the upper main path and then walking up to constriction from the bridge ...

Re: kayak quides and gear
Not to be a big doomy gloomy naysayer... but unless there's rain in the few days immediately beforehand, you'll be doing well to find any grade 3's running anywhere at the end of May. Sea / surf may well be your best shot, I'd say keep a close eye on weather forecasts coming up to your trip. And pra...

Re: Kayaking books
Pesda press have recently published "Tall Stories - Andy Jackson a biography", which I have yet to read but just going by the recent article in KS about his life I'd say buy it! Yup, I had a quick (2 hr!) flick through this one recently and what I saw looked pretty good. Some impressive photos and ...

Re: Discussion re: ICU recommendations
Where is that quote on membership taken from? Is it possible it is an old document (since most of Seanie's stuff is from 06 and 07). The current ICU website says quite clearly: Membership of the Canoe Union There are two ways of joining the Irish Canoe Union -----------------------------------------...

Re: River Shoes with Laces ( Friend or Foe )
I have the Teva shoes pictured above (actually those ones - those are the girls colours ;) ) and I have absolutely no doubt that if you got snagged due to your shoelaces the shoe would just fall off... it happens very easily. Happened as I was wandering through the mud beside the Constriction on the...

Clare Glens lost and found
So today (Saturday) I lost a set of Rough Stuff black magics, black with yellow shrink wrap, just above the footbridge. I am fairly sure my name was written on them about 4 years ago but may well not still be there! Conveniently, at the exact spot I hauled my soggy self out of the water I found a re...
