Re: ICU Statement on the Suspension of CEO Michael Scanlon
Annie, I personally would like to subscribe to your newsletter and/or email list if you're going to suggest Limerick as a potential meeting location! Leftism, I agree with you on the EGM - I was contacted as outgoing Captain of ULKC by a group who were attempting to call an EGM. There were a few thi...

Re: ICU Statement on the Suspension of CEO Michael Scanlon
Booooommmmm..... Pretty big deal. Can't really understand why there's no discussion about this. Point # 4 makes some pretty decisive statements, ones which I expect must be backed up in fact given an official statement is being circulated. I wonder what the implications are for those who are named i...

Re: TDU AGM & Agenda - 16th April 2011
Fair play to the ICU though to have the power to bring the Olympics forward a year! In terms of any concerns about the ICU, I think people know at this stage that there is a legal case pending which can't be discussed given it's ongoing. There is an AGM around end of April or May. Personally, ...

Re: Is kayaking a niche sport??
It's not as "out there" as many of the other sports mentioned. And no, it's not as accessible. People go to Lahinch for a day and see a bunch of surfers having a great day and look at them to see they have a board and a wetsuit. Local shops stock that stuff - and there's surf schools right there. It...

Re: Concept of Boofing
I've found that spotting your landing really helps (same as looking where you want to get to in any technique). Also, thinking compressing forward as a lifting of the knees rather than throwing yourself forward. Talked with Ali Donald about this in the past and he pointed out something interesting -...

Re: Bhoting wesht this weekend
Running at .6m on the gauge at the moment with more rain to come this evening so it's unlikely that it won't run.... The guide here offers a good description though it's worth noting the following: .35m is the "you'd really want to love boating" (close to how Ross Redmond described it in the past) ....

Re: ICU in need of reform?
And indeed *hand up*: Guilty... I've never attended an ICU AGM.
I need to.... because I admit, I simply don't understand the internal workings.
However, What I would say is that where there is a will, there is a way.
Maybe I'm just a cynic - maybe people don't feel the need for change....

ICU in need of reform?
Right, So, Seanie removed the thread and replies and locked the thread on my original post from last evening. First off - Seanie, I completely understand you position and when you rang me earlier and I was in my characteristically cranky form it was because I was in a rescheduled lab resulting in 4 ...

Re: What the f*ck is going on with the ICU?
Mike, I'm reluctant to say as much as I've heard as it appears pettiness may come into it and I would prefer not to name names as there are those I feel deserve to be complained about and those who deserve praise - I won't mention one without the other so I won't mention either I think. What I'll sa...

What the f*ck is going on with the ICU?
Yes it's an attention grabbing topic title but I know I'd like to know what's going on with our NGB with whom I have paid my membership. Recently I've heard bits and bobs about someone in the ICU being suspended, I've also heard rumours of people making an effort with respect to having people meet u...

Re: Paddles
Phew... Paddles and preferences for paddles are SO SO personal. I vaguely remember reading a magazine or book from years ago stating that people will lend you their boat before their paddles because they become a very peronal piece of equipment. So for me the absolute HATED are H2O's - much more in ...
