I can see it on the the computer I'm on now, thanks
Feel free to help photograph the carnage tomorrow afternoon if you're around!
No idea who the paddler is... hopefully someone else can help you with that.

Maybe paddlers from Sligo?
I don't think that link to your photo is working - any chance you could post it up again so we can see the water level? We're hoping to bring beginners on it over the weekend
Thanks,
Annie

Yeah, or "I want to start kayaking, what expensive gear do I need to buy before I even try it?"
It could be useful for stuff like that.

Re: Discussion re: ICU recommendations
With all due respect, Adrian, Who is bringing the popcorn? The type of discussion going on here is to encourage members to involve themselves in the ICU via the AGM, not to sit passively and let a very small proportion have input. Also just because clubs have not informed you of their submissions/op...

Re: Discussion re: ICU recommendations
Ye guys are so melodramatic. I submitted the motions our members requested on behalf of NUIG Kayak Club, and I am sure other clubs have done the same. Hopefully some intelligent and considered input will be forthcoming on the issues from other ICU members in attendance. See you at the AGM. Ann-Marie

Voting at ICU AGM
Tiernan I split this because the other thread is for discussing the IWW recommendations. No, one (surely) does not have to be a competitive member to vote. Clubs registered with the ICU within the 12 months preceding the date of the AGM are eligible to attend and vote, at that AGM. Clubs should try ...

Re: Discussion re: ICU recommendations
I suppose this if off-topic from specific recommendations but:
I'm with JK, you should want to join your Union, because it should be that good, or at least more beneficial to you than not joining.
And if it isn't, it's up to its members to make it that way.

Re: Discussion re: ICU recommendations
To take one recommendation at a time: According to the ICU statement, if you don't compete, but want to do say an instructor course, as long as you are a registered member of your club you shouldn't have to pay individual membership? Sounds great! But that isn't what's implemented, is it? Can people...

Re: BCU Student Safety Weekend - have you ever gone?
We run similar courses at NUIG; our first was at the weekend. However, I'd imagine smaller clubs would find it more difficult. IMO it would be a good addition to the training calendar at canoe.ie . It would help improve safety at a university level and promote the sport by ensuring that the training...

Re: BCU Student Safety Weekend - have you ever gone?
You'd have to imagine it's only for BCU clubs tho...? As it happens, not necessarily... Though if all 17 clubs from the varsities this year swamped the thing I'd imagine the organisers would reconsider. What's stopping the students being proactive and doing it themselves That's a lovely idea Adrian...
