Re: MCIB Report - Fatal incident on the Clodagh River, Water

I don't think this recomendation is practical Ye I agree that scouting the whole river BEFORE paddling it isn't practical, especially ones like the above that are mostly just flat water but you can easily Paddle-Scout-Paddle-Scout... (where you see horizon lines, etc) There is a question both from ...

Is kayaking a niche sport??

So I've been showing kayaking videos to friends, family, work colleagues and alot of them are very surprised of the nature of whitewater kayaking that it is very different from their preconceived idea of what it involves. While they are very impressed at different videos (Kayak DVD trailers, Rider o...

Re: College Clubs and Whitewater

Really great discussion. I already know of one club thinking of organising a rescue training weekend to avail of the knowledge base that is available to them (at the moment, not necessarily for ever). Making something a sport, makes it seem fun. As anyone who has had to deal with incidents, be it a ...

Re: College Clubs and Whitewater

Lads that video is 2 and a half min of clusterf*^k... I think that college clubs CAN provide safe white water paddling however it is mandatory to provide the necessary level of experience on all trips. As a college shelf life is only 4 years (typically) then there should be an emphasis on ensuring t...

Re: Van Tax Increase!!

From the Irish Times today: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/1012/breaking27.html The number of new cars licensed last month was more than double the level recorded in September 2009, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Re: Aer Lingus and busses with kayaks?

Hi Ken Is your flight to London a connecting flight. I know that Aer Lingus honour the baggage rules of the continuing flight if they are serving as a connecting flight (As in if you are flying Virgin to Uganda say, Aer Lingus should honour whatever baggage limits and rules Virgin are setting for th...

Re: Advertising on the forum

20-90c a day would pay for a few rain guage phone bills. That doesnt make sense. A gauge sends a text once a day. A text costs 8c. If 20c was coming in a day from advertising that would be 2 texts a day covered. if it was 90c it would be 11. It was a "Devils Advocate" observation on the google ads....

Re: Lower Flesk Danger

Reckless or not I think the idea is to try diplomacy first and not going in gun-hoe with a pair of wire clippers.

No point in trying to talk AFTER you've gone and cut down the fella's fence. His reply will most likly start with F- and end with -uck Off.
