Re: Clare Glens Notice
Hey, I think what Rosco means (correct me if I am wrong) is to get off river left 50+ meters above "sidewinder", then walk back to path that leads to "top drop" and follow it the long way down to the foot bridge to inspect the Sidewinder - Constriction . If you are going to portage the rapid then go...

Re: Instructors saftey standards
Right Oh, Since I have a bit of time before after work boating in Wicklow this evening said I'd dip my toe in this one. As far as I understand it the ICU the National Governing Body of of the sport and in turn the TDU (training & development unit) set out the guidelines that are best practice for in...

Seanie, Talk about a http://larcho.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/can_of_worms_ahead.jpg topic.... but is interesting no the less. I would just like to make a comment on the footage that was shown on Nationwide from "Go with the flow", the instructor with the Blue Dry Suit and Sweet lid is Patrick Mc C...

Clare Glens Notice
The conservation ranger for the Clare Glens has been in contact with me to help with conserving our local paddling spot. They don't wish to stop canoeing or kayaking within the glens but they do need to protect the site. The following are recommendations that they have made. Your co-operation with ...

Re: Gauge alternative
Funny you should say, I was actually thinking about this lately, I was thinking even a PDA or phone running S60 would be able to handle it.It all just seemed very straight froward.? As I'm far from a computer whiz I reckoned the lads knew more than me and they had the best route... If it was I'd alm...

Re: IWW KC motions and nominations - ICU AGM 2008
Having attended the AGM myself I can say that Seanie's summary is a fair and accurate account of the events that took place.Seanie wrote:Well there was a good bit of stuff, so I'll try to give a summary from my recollection. Some of the stuff is left out as it was fairly run of the mill.

Seanie, Would have thought an auld river dawg like your self was a Alps vet at this stage..... Less words of wisdom and more common sense... Like the song says, wear sunscreen ! Drink less beer and more water, sounds like a shite thing to do but you want to make the most of your time there. Dress fo...

Re: Upper Liffey Gauge
Lads,
Thats savage stuff from ye, it a massive resource to have and when the new features come on line it will be unreal for the after work boating.
Sadly my own skills don't extend to gauge making so I can't thank ye enough.

Re: IWW KC motions and nominations - ICU AGM 2008
Mike, That's pretty much it, currently there is no record as to what disciplines people partake in on a regular basis, the only gauge of participation currently is competition entry numbers. So if this was to be taken at face value there are only 30 ish freestyle kayakers in the country and recreati...

Re: Could this finially be what we are waiting for...
Simon, We have some online gauges at the moment which can provide real time data, sadly they all seem to be out of operation so its back to the good old days of rain fall radars combined with a phone book of folks living in the areas. Ah for the perfect world where we would have live gauges on every...
