Re: Rush to select a new Canoe Union CEO/GM
It is funded not by the ICU, but by the ISC. One more reason the ICU should be far better represent on the hiring panel. Can you elaborate on this Seanie? I'm not trying to have a go or anything, but don't grasp your logic here. If the Irish Sports Council are the ones paying this persons salary, i...

Liz I have a question, and you seem to be in the know. When Mr O'Connell "back dated" the controversial contract for Mr Scanlon, the contract with two retirement packages, what company were the retirement packages with?

Re: Conflict of Interest with Related Party Transaction
When it came up at this year's ADM the person who asked it was made feel like they were being deliberately vague and that they were stirring the pot. It's a very valid question and one which nobody should be afraid to ask. I'm glad you raised that! Just to explain the background behind that questio...

Re: Conflict of Interest with Related Party Transaction
To be clear on this topic. I expect every ICU party related transaction to be declared on the audited accounts. I expect every large purchase to go to tender and I expect every persons with a conflict of interest to excuse themselves from the process. No matter who they are. +1 (in the absence of a...

Re: Rush to select a new Canoe Union CEO/GM
I heard it through the grape vine that Eamon Devoy, the ex-ICU Chairperson, is refusing to step down from the ICU hiring panel that will select the next ICU General Manager. And that several board members are supporting him. My understanding is that the board voted unanimously on the make-up of the...

Re: Conflict of Interest with Related Party Transaction
Regarding my Great Outdoors reference (that is a lovely little accronym by the way! Who's invention was that? ;) ), whoever was or is contracted to buy the boats, helmets, lifejackets, whatever, surely you can see how it looks from the outside having their direct competitor heading our federation! A...

Re: Conflict of Interest with Related Party Transaction
Seanie, in fairness to Eamon, i think calling him "a truly useless Chairperson" iss way off the mark! From what i have read, your estimation of him is based entirely on your experience at AGMs, which was just one aspect of his job. Have you ever sat at a board or executive meeting? If not, then it i...

Re: ICU AGM 2011 - 50th ADM - Results & Outcomes
Congratulations to all the newly elected executive board members! All in all i thought the meeting itself went pretty well. It was long, but it probably needed to be in order to give everyone time for debate! I took exception to some comments made, especially by Brendan O'Connell. I was also not sat...
