Re: Etiquette: Pint Rescue (or swim beers) vs Swim Bootie

The whole idea of the swim bootie originated in norway (i think), where beer is expensive. To my knowledge the idea is that the swimmer drinks the 'bootie' and negates the need to purchase each of the rescuers involved a beer. The drinking of the 'bootie' is also a way of honouring the river gods to...

Re: River Information - on the River

The idea is great, to have a map at the put in and a sign at the take out, this is done alot in euope and works great. The issue with it here in ireland would initially be the cost and then of maintenance. Coillte have recently spent alot of time and money mapping forrest parks for walks and biking ...

Re: Low brace turns, pointless?

A little off topic rob but good rant all the same. The issue of the usefulness of the bow rudder to a person on a river for the first 4 or 5 trips is a long way from there first time in norway or on the zambezi. While I do agree that we should be training people in good technique and in a dynamic st...

Re: Steep Creeks Comp???

Great Idea I talked to Graham about this a couple of years ago and think it would be a great way to get people out boating and to find out whats running a when. If you are interested we could use the event formally know as riverfest in april as a finish date and give out the prizes etc there. Also i...
