Pakistan whitewater video
Hi all, Here is some video that Ali Donald, Brian O'Callaghan, Coran Kelly, Cuan McCarrick, Garry Noonan, Hugh O'Donnell, Ken McCarthy and myself took in Pakistan a few years back. It got dragged out of the cupboard recently so I uploaded it to youtube. The whole thing is about 45min. If thats a bit...

Re: Kerry levels
Bryan,
you were close on the number but no cigar
The number of the Flesk gauge is 086-3029881
Each beep represents 10cm
eg 7 beeps means the level is between 70cm and 79cm
Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac,
he stayed up all night wondering if there really was a dog

Re: Getting started building a Gauge
The old layout for the tracks and components in on the website at http://pei.ucc.ie/daithi/RiverSpy22_silkscreen.pdf but that verion can't be mass produced as its dependent on a supply of reliable old siemens phones which don't exist. The sensor piece won't change very much though (see below) The ne...

Flesk gauge testing
The Flesk gauge is fixed but is sitting in a bin of water at the moment so ignore the data.
All going well, it will go back in the river next Sunday,

Latest levels at the Flesk
11:15 173cm
11:45 200cm
12:15 234cm
Sources on the ground say that the Upper Carragh has burst its banks.
Last chance for a decent after-work river before the clocks go back!

I don't agree
Well, the next time ye go surfing, see how long ye can surf a wave without using a low brace turn!

Re: Flesk Gauge
I went for a look on Sat evening. The phone was reading "NO SIM". I took the SIM out and put it back in again and the system recovered. I imagine that a winter of vibrations caused the SIM holder to slip down a little. I put it back together with the phone upside down so we should be back in action ...

Re: Annamoe gauge on Sundays
It definately sounds like there are back doors into the code! I reckon that its part of an underhand conspiracy with the express purpose of annoying Dublin people  How many Sundays did you observe to be missed before you came up with this theory? Last Sunday, it worked fine anyway. The phon...

Re: Tree clearing on the Gaddagh, Sat 1st
Tree clearing on the Gaddagh is back on for the weekend of 1st of March. If we don't get it finished on the Saturday, we will be back again on the Sunday (weather permitting) A gang of us will be staying at the Climber's Inn in Glencar (066-9760101) on Sat night and consuming many pints. B&B is E30p...

Re: Gauges Down
The Flesk one seems to be down at the river end. I'd imagine that the 12V battery needs replacing. Low light has meant that it is working much harder and the cold temperatures probably hastened its end of life. 1.2Ahr is probably a bit small considering the amount of charging/discharging that it has...

Re: Building a river gauge
Hi Seanie, What TI part are you missing? I probably have some spares. Wiring the phone is one of the trickiest bits and should be left until towards the end. I've put some pictures of the m35 job at http://pei.ucc.ie/daithi/m35/m35.html The C45 seems to be fairly similar. A very fine soldering iron ...
