Re: Canoeing Ireland AGM
sorry, I could have been a bit clearer. Who handles the instructor/coaching stuff. There is a difference between recreation and instructor/coaching. In theory, a recreational representative could be elected to the position and have no knowledge/interest in the coaching/instructor aspect to the sport...

Re: Resignation of President and Executive of Canoeing Irela
Was the most recent ADM the first one with the "1 person - 1 vote" policy in place?
At the last ADM, everyone getting a voting card had their name checked against the membership list, so is that akin to a club collecting the signature of each person they can represent?

Re: Apparent discontent with SOME members of CI board with T
Adrian, have you spoken to any of the board members who voted against the motion to find out why they voted how they did?
Has it crossed your(or anyone else's) mind that the board might actually be right on this occasion and the former President and exec are wrong?

Canoeing Ireland AGM -20th October 2012 in the Clarion Hotel
So what will attendance be like this year?
Hopefully I'll be able to make it myself.

ICU A.G.M.?
Any idea if there's a date set for this years ICU AGM? When might it be? I think it could serve as a good opportunity for the board to quell some of the misinformation floating about the place. Before anyone berates me for attacking committee members/being ignorant of the facts/not appreciative of p...

Re: The ICU Training Unit needs your details
Was it too much to hope for that all this bickering and lack of co-operation be put behind us so that we as a group of paddlers could move on and progress the sport in Ireland? I'm certain the my record showed that I was a level 5 paddler, level 5 instructor and level 5 coach in all the disciplines ...

This is getting more like wikileaks everyday.
BTW, Seanie, do you know if this was recorded with the knowledge of people at the meeting?

Re: Requirement for Travel Insurance?
Some people think insurance cover is expensive, and there's not many things you pay for and hope not to use, but it's far more expensive if you need insurance cover and can't use it. I think it's USIT who say "if you can't afford insurance, you can't afford to go". I think for the sake of it you'd b...

Re: The future of Rossbeigh for New Years.....
Yawn. Every year people complain about the ice-boxes yet they keep going back to them, why? Maybe for some the ice-boxes are the only place will take certain people back. There are heaps of other houses in the Rossbeigh/Glenbeigh area, just go look for them. When a house is being crammed full with 2...

Re: There is NO place in modern river running for sculling for s
I'll echo Dave's sentiments, except it wasn't my first alpine trip but I was stuck in a nasty (previously fatal) hole and was dam glad of my sculling ability. Happy to be able to scull a few pints afterwards too. I have to ask but where the hell did someone get the notion that there's no need for sc...
