Re: Concept of Boofing
The thing I see people getting wrong most often when boofing is the timing of the last pull stroke on the lip. Watch the above videos but bear in mind that often you'll need to 'interrupt' the cycles of your arm rotations to ensure that the pulling blade is engaged on the lip. When you're churning y...

UCD types were getting on the Upper LIffey at about 11:30 AM, so that's up for sure.

Re: Manana Manana blogging again
Some new stuff on Manana Manana today. I've put up a blog post on a rafting trip we did on the Grand Canyon of the Colorado in the states last year. I've also added a photo gallery, initially with an album of photos from the Grand Canyon. I'll be adding more albums over the next few weeks. Later, Jim.

Manana Manana blogging again
Hi guys, There's not much going on in the Irish kayaking scene right now, but I'm restarting my dormant blog so that'll keep you busy for, oh, five minutes. I've put up a quick explanation today on the blog, and I'll have a 'proper' post with photos and everything tomorrow. Manana Manana That is all...

Re: Advertising on the forum
Good work Seanie. Same as most people, so far I don't mind the odd kayaking-related commercial post, so long as it doesn't become constant spam. On the issue of sidebar ads, go ahead - I'm on Mozilla with Ad-block running so I never see them anyway. On a related issue, I thing it would be a good ide...

Re: Travel Insurance?
Hey Muirs,
I have BMC insurance, but I've never had to call upon it, so I don't know. Someone, possibly Cormac Lynch, recommended some Austrian version of the BMC but I can't remember the name.
Jim.

Re: Kerry Water levels
What's that Eoin? Something about you having to chase a boat? Did Dave lose his boat again? Folks, this is what Dave's boat looks like. Might be worth memorizing this, since he seems to make a habit of losing it, like this occasion in Corsica: http://www.mananamanana.com/temporary_junk/CIMG1599.jpg ...

Re: Celtic Link Ferries - two thumbs up!
Yes, we were foot passengers, lugging our boats, so I don't know. Give them a call on the phone, I'd suggest. I can tell you for a fact that boats on their side on top of an Espace are over 2.2 metres. I can also tell you that when loading boats on a hire car in an airport carpack, you should check ...

Celtic Link Ferries - two thumbs up!
I've been meaning to post this for a while, so here goes. Celtic Link Ferries rocks! With the ash cloud shenanigans in April, we ended up taking the ferry from Cherbourg to Rosslare to get home from Corsica. We travelled with Celtic Link Ferries and it was great. It's a newish ferry company (five ye...

Re: Sweet Strutters, are they solid?
Well, you have to take your style where ever you can find it, and I certainly wasn't going to see anything stylish from you, off or on the river... Here's Dave in his stylish Strutter, after stylishly pinning his boat in a slot I had no difficult paddling through, stylish: http://web17.twitpic.com/i...
