Nice idea. i dunno how often the lower caragh is paddled though. Think phoenix do beginner trips there sometimes. the expert in this field is Daithi Power who created the flesk gauge and riverspy. paddling in ireland is a lottery. winter months are the wettest but whats important is not the frequency of rain but the intensity. all irish rivers are "spate" rivers needing half an inch or more in one go to bring them to a runnable level. face book is a good source of info. try the pages for iris...

Hi Eoin, I looked into this recently in the other direction. Mad expensive too. Eventually boat packaged with load going to I-canoe. The 2 options i came up with had that not worked out were 1- Foot passenger on ferry. About 20 each way and boat no prob.Did that once years ago. (but you gotta persua...

The french website www.eauxvives.org has a comprehensive set of guides to all french whitewater rivers.(and many in italy,switzerland,spain too)
GPS coordinates are on most. easy enough to note the ones you want.
